Jesus Came To Serve!
December 30, 2018
Jesus didn’t come to be SERVED; he came to SERVE.
Matthew 20:28 - The baby born to the virgin Mary on Christmas day came into this world to serve you and me.
He didn’t come as royalty to be waited on hand-and-foot. He didn’t come so that others could serve him. He didn’t come to lead a lavish lifestyle.
He came to lead a humble life and pour out his life for many.
Mark 10:45 - “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life for many.”
Jesus came to teach us how to serve by SHOWING us how to SACRIFICE for others.
John 13:1-17 - At the Last Supper, Jesus washes his disciples’ feet. He shows them how to serve with love and humility.
Mark 9:35 - “Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, ‘Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all.’”
Matthew 23:11-12 - “The greatest among you will be your servant. For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”
Jesus is the perfect example of a SERVANT leader.
1 Peter 5:2-3 - “Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them…not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve; not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock.”
Luke 22:26 - “But not so with you. Rather let the greatest among you become as the youngest, and the leader as one who serves.”
Acts 20:28 - “Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God which he bought with his own blood.”
Psalm 78:72 - “And David shepherded them with integrity of heart; with skillful hands he led them.”
1 Corinthians 9:19, 22 - “Though I am free and belong to no one, I have made myself a servant to everyone, to win as many as possible…I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some.
