AT THE LIGHTHOUSE
“To love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength and to be the hands, feet, heart and voice of Christ.”
This statements reflects the two most important commandments as identified by Jesus in Scripture, i.e. to love God with all our heart and also to love our neighbor as ourselves. (Matthew 22:36-40 and Mark 12:28-31) The second part of the statement reflects our active role in carrying out these commandments as the Body of Christ.
”To share the good news of Jesus Christ with people of all ages and backgrounds, to help each other grow in our faith and knowledge of Jesus and God's Holy Word, and to reflect the light of Jesus to our community and beyond.”
This statement reflects our mission to carry out the great commission through evangelism, discipleship and serving together in building God's church as instructed by Jesus in Matthew 28:16-20.
This also ties in with the name of our church - the Lighthouse and our responsibility to reflect the light of Jesus to a dark world. (John 8:12 and 2 Corinthians 4:6)
We like these statements for many reasons. They are concise and to the point. They are rooted in Scripture and they reflect a love for Jesus Christ, his people and the lost.
