Condemnation vs. Conviction

2 Corinthians 10:5, Romans 5:18, I John 3:20-21, Romans 3:23, Ephesians 4:30, John 16:8, 2 Corinthians 7:9-10, and I John 1:9

 

Verse of the Week 1 “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” ~ Romans 8:1

 

1. Since we all have sinned, we are already under condemnation.

  • Genesis 3:2-5 – “The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, but God did say, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.’  “You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman.  ‘For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.’”

  • Romans 5:12 – “Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned…”

  • John 3:18 – “Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.”

 

2. After we are born again, we are no longer under God’s wrath.

  • Romans 3:22-24 – “This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe.  There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.”

  • Romans 5:18 – “Consequently, just as one trespass resulted in condemnation for all people, so also one righteous act resulted in justification and life for all people.”

  • Romans 8:1 – “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus…”

 

3. Satan wants to deceive us so that we continue to live in fear, guilt and shame.

  • John 8:44 – “You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires.  He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him.  When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.”

  • Revelation 12:10 – “For the accuser of our brothers and sisters, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down.”

 

4. The conviction of the Holy Spirit is very different from the condemnation of Satan.

  • John 16:8 – “When he comes, he will prove the world to be in the wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment.”

  • 2 Corinthians 7:10 – “Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.”

  • Ephesians 4:30 – “And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.”

  • I John 1:9 – “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”

Versículo de la Semana

1 “Por lo tanto, ya no hay condenación para los que están en Cristo Jesús.”

~ Romanos 8:1

 

1. Como todos hemos pecado, ya estamos bajo condenación.

  • Génesis 3:2-5 – “La mujer le dijo a la serpiente: “Podemos comer del fruto de los árboles del huerto, pero Dios dijo: ‘No deben comer del fruto del árbol que está en medio del huerto, ni tocarlo, o morirán’. “No morirán”, le respondió la serpiente a la mujer.  “Sino que Dios sabe que el día que coman de él, se les abrirán los ojos y serán como Dios, conociendo el bien y el mal.””

  • Romanos 5:12 – “Por tanto, como el pecado entró en el mundo por un hombre, y por el pecado la muerte, y de esta manera la muerte pasó a todos los hombres, por cuanto todos pecaron…”

  • Juan 3:18 – “El que en él cree, no es condenado; pero el que no cree, ya está condenado, porque no ha creído en el nombre del unigénito Hijo de Dios.”

 

2. Después de nacer de nuevo, ya no estamos bajo la ira de Dios.

  • Romanos 3:22-24 – “Esta justicia es dada por la fe en Jesucristo a todos los que creen.  No hay diferencia entre judío y gentil, pues todos pecaron y están destituidos de la gloria de Dios, y todos son justificados gratuitamente por su gracia mediante la redención que vino en Cristo Jesús.”

  • Romanos 5:18 – “Por consiguiente, así como una sola transgresión resultó en la condenación de todos, también una sola obra de justicia resultó en la justificación y vida de todos.”

  • Romanos 8:1 – “Por lo tanto, ya no hay ninguna condenación para los que están en Cristo Jesús…”

 

3. Satanás quiere engañarnos para que sigamos viviendo con miedo, culpa y vergüenza.

  • Juan 8:44 – “Ustedes pertenecen a su padre, el diablo, y quieren hacer los deseos de su padre.  Él fue homicida desde el principio, no fiel a la verdad, porque no hay verdad en él.  Cuando miente, habla su propia lengua, porque es mentiroso y padre de la mentira.”

  • Apocalipsis 12:10 – “Porque el acusador de nuestros hermanos, el que los acusa delante de nuestro Dios día y noche, ha sido arrojado.” 

 

4. La convicción del Espíritu Santo es muy diferente de la condenación de Satanás.

  • Juan 16:8 – “Cuando él venga, probará que el mundo está equivocado en cuanto al pecado, la justicia y el juicio.”

  • 2 Corintios 7:10 – “La tristeza que es según Dios produce arrepentimiento para salvación, sin remordimientos; pero la tristeza del mundo produce muerte.”

  • Efesios 4:30 – “Y no contristéis al Espíritu Santo de Dios, con el cual fuisteis sellados para el día de la redención.”

  • 1 Juan 1:9 – “Si confesamos nuestros pecados, él es fiel y justo para perdonar nuestros pecados y limpiarnos de toda maldad.”
