Verse of the Week
36 “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”
~ John 8:36
1. Jesus’ mission was to come to set us free from sin, death, and evil.
Isaiah 61:1 – “The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners.”
John 8:36 – “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”
2. Trusting in Christ and his teachings will set us free.
Psalm 118:5 – “Out of my distress I called on the Lord; The Lord answered me and set me free.”
Psalm 119:45 – “I will walk about in freedom, for I have sought out your precepts.”
John 8:31-32 – “To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, ‘If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.’”
3. Since we have been freed from sin by Christ, we can now live in freedom from bondage.
Romans 6:14 – “For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace.”
Romans 6:18 – “You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.”
Romans 8:1-2 – “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.”
4. We are now bondservants of Christ and free to honor God.
Romans 6:22 – “But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life.”
Acts 13:39 – “Through him everyone who believes is set free from every sin, a justification you were not able to obtain under the law of Moses.”
Hebrews 2:14-15 – “Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death — that is, the devil — and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death.”
5. Thanks to the Holy Spirit we have perfect freedom in Christ.
2 Corinthians 3:17 – “Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.”
Galatians 5:1 – “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.”

1. La mision de Jesus fue de venir a liberarnos del pecado, muerte y maldad.
Isaias 61:1 – “El Espíritu del Señor y Dios está sobre mí, por cuanto me ha ungido para anunciar buenas noticias a los pobres. Me ha enviado a sanar los corazones heridos a proclamar libertad a los cautivos y la liberación de los prisioneros.”
Juan 8:36 – “Así que, si el Hijo los libera, serán ustedes verdaderamente libres.”
2. Confiando en Cristo y sus ensenanzas nos liberaran.
Salmos 118:5 – “Desde mi angustia clamé al Señor y él respondió dándome libertad.”
Salmos 119:45 – “Viviré con toda libertad, porque he buscado tus preceptos.”
Juan 8:31-32 – “Jesús se dirigió entonces a los judíos que habían creído en él, y les dijo: ‘Si se mantienen fieles a mis palabras, serán realmente mis discípulos; y conocerán la verdad, y la verdad los hará libres.’”
3. Como hemos sido liberados del pecado por Cristo, podemos vivir libres de toda atadura.
Romanos 6:14 – “Así el pecado no tendrá dominio sobre ustedes, porque ya no están bajo la Ley, sino bajo la gracia.”
Romanos 6:18 – “En efecto, habiendo sido liberados del pecado, ahora son ustedes esclavos de la justicia.”
Romanos 8:1-2 – “Por lo tanto, ya no hay ninguna condenación para los que están en Cristo Jesús, pues por medio de él la ley del Espíritu de vida te ha liberado de la ley del pecado y de la muerte.”
4. Ahora somos siervos de Cristo y libres para honorar a Dios. .
Romanos 6:22 – “Pero ahora que han sido liberados del pecado y se han puesto al servicio de Dios, cosechan la santidad que conduce a la vida eterna.”
Hechos 13:39 – “Ustedes no pudieron ser justificados de esos pecados por la Ley de Moisés, pero todo el que cree es justificado por medio de Jesús.“
Hebreos 2:14-15 – “Por tanto, ya que ellos son de carne y hueso, él también compartió esa naturaleza humana para anular, mediante la muerte, al que tiene el dominio de la muerte, es decir, al diablo, y librar a todos los que por temor a la muerte estaban sometidos a esclavitud durante toda la vida.”
5. Gracias al Espiritu Santo tenemos libertad perfecta en Cristo..
2 Corintios 3:17 – “Ahora bien, el Señor es el Espíritu, y donde está el Espíritu del Señor, allí hay libertad.”
Galatas 5:1 – “Cristo nos libertó para que vivamos en libertad. Por lo tanto, manténganse firmes y no se sometan nuevamente al yugo de esclavitud.”
