Overcoming Rejection

Isaiah 53

1 Who has believed our message and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?

2 He grew up before him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground.  He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.

3 He was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain.  Like one from whom people hide their faces he was despised, and we held him in low esteem.

 

4 Surely, he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted.

5 But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.

 

I Peter 2

4 As you come to him, the living Stone — rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him — 5 you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. 

6 For in Scripture it says: “See, I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and precious cornerstone, and the one who trusts in him will never be put to shame.”

 

Level 5 Rejection

Isaiah 54

 

4 “Do not be afraid; you will not be put to shame.  Do not fear disgrace; you will not be humiliated.  You willforget the shame of your youth and remember no more the reproach of your widowhood.

5 For your Maker is your husband — the Lord Almighty is his name — the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer; he is called the God of all the earth.

6 The Lord will call you back as if you were a wife deserted and distressed in spirit — a wife who married young, only to be rejected,” says your God.

7 “For a brief moment I abandoned you, but with deep compassion I will bring you back.

8 In a surge of anger I hid my face from you for a moment, but with everlasting kindness I will have compassion on you,” says the Lord your Redeemer.

 

9 “To me this is like the days of Noah, when I swore that the waters of Noah would never again cover the earth. So now I have sworn not to be angry with you, never to rebuke you again.

10 Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,” says the Lord, who has compassion on you.

 

 

How do I overcome rejection?

  

 

A)    Could this be an accident or is it purposeful?

 

 

 

B)   Did I do something which contributed to this rejection?

 

 

 

C)   What should I do in response?

 

 

 

1. I fight against bitterness and resentment. 15 See to it that no one falls short of the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many. Hebrews 12:15

2. I abide in Christ in the midst of pain. 24 If anyone comes after me, he must deny himself and pick up his cross and follow me.      Matthew 16:24 2 Every branch that abides in me gets pruned, so it can bear more fruit. John 15:2

3. I draw near to the Lord in prayer. 12 For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ear is attentive to their prayer. I Peter 3:12

8 Come near to God and he will come near to you. James 4:8

4. I accept the discipline of the Lord. 5 My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline, and do not lose heart when he rebukes you, 6 because the Lord disciplines the one he loves and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son. Hebrew 12:5-6

5. I believe the promises of God. Romans 8:28: 28 All things work together for the good for those who love God and are called according to his purposes. Matthew 19:26: 26 With God all things are possible. John 6:29: 29 This is the work of God, that you believe on him whom he sent.

Superando el Rechazo

Isaías 53

 

1 ¿Quién ha creído a nuestro mensaje y a quién se ha revelado el brazo del SEÑOR?

 

2 Creció ante él como un retoño tierno, como una raíz de tierra seca.  No tenía belleza ni majestad que nos atrajera, nada en su apariencia que nos hiciera desearlo.

 

3 Fue despreciado y rechazado por la humanidad, hombre de sufrimiento, familiarizado con el dolor.  Como alguien de quien se esconde el rostro, fue despreciado, y lo tuvimos en baja estima.

 

4 Ciertamente, él cargó con nuestro dolor y soportó nuestro sufrimiento; sin embargo, lo consideramos castigado por Dios, herido por él y afligido.

 

5 Pero él fue herido por nuestras transgresiones, molido por nuestras iniquidades; el castigo que nos trajo paz recayó sobre él, y por sus heridas fuimos sanados.

 

 

1 Pedro 2

 

4 Acercándose a él, la Piedra viva — rechazada por los hombres, pero escogida por Dios y preciosa para él —,

5 ustedes también, como piedras vivas, sean edificados como casa espiritual para un sacerdocio santo, ofreciendo sacrificios espirituales aceptables a Dios por medio de Jesucristo.

6 Porque la Escritura dice: Miren, pongo en Sión una piedra angular, escogida y preciosa; y el que confíe en ella nunca será avergonzado.

 

Nivel 5 Rechazo

Isaías 54

 

4 No temas; no serás avergonzada.  No temer la desgracia; no serás humillada.  Olvidarás la vergüenza de tu juventud y no recordarás más el oprobio de tu viudez.

 

5 Porque tu Hacedor es tu esposo; el SEÑOR Todopoderoso es su nombre; el Santo de Israel es tu Redentor; se le llama Dios de toda la tierra.

 

6 El SEÑOR te llamará de regreso como si fueras una esposa abandonada y angustiada de espíritu, una esposa que se casó joven, solo para ser rechazada», dice tu Dios.

 

7 Por un breve momento te abandoné, pero con profunda compasión te traeré de vuelta.

 

8 En un arrebato de ira escondí mi rostro de ti por un momento, pero con bondad eterna tendré compasión de ti, dice el SEÑOR tu Redentor.

 

9 Para mí, esto es como los días de Noé, cuando juré que las aguas de Noé nunca más cubrirían la tierra.  Por eso ahora he jurado no enojarme contigo ni reprenderte nunca más.

 

10 Aunque tiemblen los montes y se muevan las colinas, mi amor inagotable por ti no se quebrará, ni mi pacto de paz se quebrará — dice el Señor, que se compadece de ti — .

 

 

¿Cómo supero el rechazo?

 

A) ¿Podría ser accidental o intencional?

 

 

B) ¿Hice algo que contribuyó a este rechazo?

  

 

C) ¿Qué debo hacer?


 

 

1. Lucho contra la amargura y el resentimiento.

15 Procuren que nadie deje de alcanzar la gracia de Dios, y que ninguna raíz de amargura brote y cause problemas, contaminando a muchos.

Hebreos 12:15

 

2. Permanezco en Cristo en medio del dolor.

24 Si alguno viene en pos de mí, niéguese a sí mismo, tome su cruz y sígame.

Mateo 16:24

 

2 Toda rama que permanece en mí es podada para que dé más fruto.

Juan 15:2

 

3. Me acerco al Señor en oración.

12 Porque los ojos del Señor están sobre los justos, y su oído atento a sus oraciones.

1 Pedro 3:12

 

8 Acérquense a Dios, y él se acercará a ustedes.

Santiago 4:8

 

4. Acepto la disciplina del Señor.

5 Hijo mío, no menosprecies la disciplina del Señor ni te desanimes cuando te reprenda, 6 porque el Señor disciplina al que ama y castiga a todo el que acepta como hijo.

Hebreos 12:5-6

 

5. Creo en las promesas de Dios.

 

Romanos 8:28: 28 Todas las cosas obran para bien de quienes aman a Dios y son llamados conforme a sus propósitos.

 

Mateo 19:26: 26 Para Dios todo es posible.

 

Juan 6:29: 29 Esta es la obra de Dios: que crean en el que él envió.
