Verse of the Week
13 “Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.”
~ I Corinthians 16:13
1. The first key is to not be deceived.
I John 4:1 – “Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.”
Galatians 6:7 – “Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.”
Matthew 24:24 – “For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.”
2. The second key is to not be influenced by the culture.
Romans 12:2 – “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is — his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
I John 2:15-17 – “Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. For everything in the world — the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life — comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.”
2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 – “Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God.”
3. Another key is to make every effort to live in peace.
Matthew 5:9 – “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.”
Romans 12:18 – “If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.”
James 3:17-18 – “But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness.”
Hebrews 12:14 – “Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord.”
I Thessalonians 4:10-11 – “And in fact, you do love all of God’s family throughout Macedonia. Yet we urge you, brothers and sisters, to do so more and more, and to make it your ambition to lead a quiet life: You should mind your own business and work with your hands, just as we told you.”
4. The final key is to stand firm in the Lord.
Ephesians 6:10-11 – “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.”
Isaiah 40:28-31 – “He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint.”
I Corinthians 16:13 – “Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.”

13 “Manténganse alerta; permanezcan firmes en la fe; sean valientes y fuertes.”
~ I Corintios 16:13
1. La primer clave es no ser engañado.
I Juan 4:1 – “Queridos hermanos, no crean a cualquier espíritu, sino sométanlo a prueba para ver si es de Dios, porque han salido por el mundo muchos falsos profetas.”
Galatas 6:7 – “No se engañen: de Dios nadie se burla. Cada uno cosecha lo que siembra.”
Mateo 24:24 – “Porque surgirán falsos Cristos y falsos profetas que harán grandes señales y milagros para engañar, de ser posible, aun a los elegidos.”
2. La segunda clave es no ser influenciado por la cultura.
Romanos 12:2 – “No se amolden al mundo actual, sino sean transformados mediante la renovación de su mente. Así podrán comprobar cómo es la voluntad de Dios: buena, agradable y perfecta.”
I Juan 2:15-17 – “No amen al mundo ni nada de lo que hay en él. Si alguien ama al mundo, el amor del Padre no está en él. Porque nada de lo que hay en el mundo — los malos deseos de la carne,la codicia de los ojos y la arrogancia de la vida —, proviene del Padre, sino del mundo. El mundo se acaba con sus malos deseos, pero el que hace la voluntad de Dios permanece para siempre.”
2 Tesalonicenses 2:3-4 – “No se dejen engañar de ninguna manera, porque primero tiene que llegar la rebelión contra Dios y manifestarse el hombre de maldad, el que está destinado a la destrucción. Este se opone y se levanta contra todo lo que lleva el nombre de dios o es objeto de adoración, hasta el punto de adueñarse del templo de Dios y pretender ser Dios.”
3. Otra clave es hacer todo esfuerzo para vivir en paz
Mateo 5:9 – “Dichosos los que trabajan por la paz, porque serán llamados hijos de Dios.”
Romanos 12:18 – “Si es posible, y en cuanto dependa de ustedes, vivan en paz con todos.”
Santiago 3:17-18 – “En cambio, la sabiduría que desciende del cielo es ante todo pura y además pacífica, respetuosa, dócil, llena de compasión y de buenos frutos, imparcial y sincera. En fin, el fruto de la justicia se siembra en paz para los que hacen la paz.”
Hebreos 12:14 – “Busquen la paz con todos y la santidad, sin la cual nadie verá al Señor.”
I Tesalonicenses 4:10-11 – “En efecto, ustedes aman a todos los hermanos que viven en Macedonia. No obstante, hermanos, los animamos a amarse aún más, a procurar vivir tranquilos, a ocuparse de sus propias responsabilidades y a trabajar con sus propias manos. Así les he mandado.”
4. La clave final es mantenerse firme en el Señor.
Efesios 6:10-11 – “Por último, fortalézcanse con el gran poder del Señor. Pónganse toda la armadura de Dios para que puedan hacer frente a las artimañas del diablo.”
Isaias 40:28-31 – “Él fortalece al cansado y acrecienta las fuerzas del débil. Aun los jóvenes se cansan, se fatigan, los muchachos tropiezan y caen; pero los que confían en el Señor renovarán sus fuerzas; levantarán el vuelo como las águilas, correrán y no se fatigarán, caminarán y no se cansarán.”
