The Majesty Of Jesus

At that time Jesus went through the grainfields on the Sabbath. His disciples were hungry and began to pick some heads of grain and eat them. 2 When the Pharisees saw this, they said to him, “Look! Your disciples are doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath.”
3 He answered, “Haven’t you read what David did when he and his companions were hungry? 4 He entered the house of God, and he and his companions ate the consecrated bread — which was not lawful for them to do, but only for the priests. 5 Or haven’t you read in the Law that the priests on Sabbath duty in the temple desecrate the Sabbath and yet are innocent?
6 I tell you that something greater than the temple is here.
41 The men of Nineveh will stand up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it; for they repented at the preaching of Jonah, and now something greater than Jonah is here.
42 The Queen of the South will rise at the judgment with this generation and condemn it; for she came from the ends of the earth to listen to Solomon’s wisdom, and now something greater than Solomon is here.
7 If you had known what these words mean, ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice,’ you would not have condemned the innocent.
8 For the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath.”
9 Going on from that place, he went into their synagogue, 10 and a man with a shriveled hand was there. Looking for a reason to bring charges against Jesus, they asked him, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?”
11 He said to them, “If any of you has a sheep and it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will you not take hold of it and lift it out? 12 How much more valuable is a person than a sheep! Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.”
13 Then he said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.”
So he stretched it out and it was completely restored, just as sound as the other.
14 But the Pharisees went out and plotted how they might kill Jesus.
15 Aware of this, Jesus withdrew from that place. A large crowd followed him, and he healed all who were ill. 16 He warned them not to tell others about him. 17 This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah:
18 “Here is my servant whom I have chosen, the one I love, in whom I delight; I will put my Spirit on him, and he will proclaim justice to the nations.
19 He will not quarrel or cry out; no one will hear his voice in the streets.
20 A bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out, till he has brought justice through to victory.
21 In his name the nations will put their hope.”
22 Then they brought him a demon-possessed man who was blind and mute, and Jesus healed him, so that he could both talk and see. 23 All the people were astonished and said, “Could this be the Son of David?”
24 But when the Pharisees heard this, they said, “It is only by Beelzebul, the prince of demons, that this fellow drives out demons.”
25 Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them, “Every kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and every city or household divided against itself will not stand. 26 If Satan drives out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then can his kingdom stand? 27 And if I drive out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your people drive them out? So then, they will be your judges.
28 But if it is by the Spirit of God that I drive out demons, then the kingdom of God has come upon you.
29 “Or again, how can anyone enter a strong man’s house and carry off his possessions unless he first ties up the strong man? Then he can plunder his house.
38 Then some of the Pharisees and teachers of the law said to him, “Teacher, we want to see a sign from you.”
39 He answered, “A wicked and adulterous generation asks for a sign! But none will be given it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.
40 For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a huge fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

En aquel tiempo, Jesús atravesaba los sembrados un sábado. Sus discípulos tenían hambre y comenzaron a arrancar espigas y a comerlas. 2 Al ver esto, los fariseos le dijeron: «¡Mira! Tus discípulos hacen lo que no está permitido en sábado.”
3 Él respondió: «¿No han leído lo que hizo David cuando él y sus compañeros tuvieron hambre? 4 Entró en la casa de Dios y comió con sus compañeros el pan consagrado, algo que no les era lícito hacer, sino solo a los sacerdotes. 5 ¿O no han leído en la Ley que los sacerdotes que están de servicio en el templo el sábado profanan el sábado y, sin embargo, son inocentes?
6 Les digo que aquí hay algo mayor que el templo.
41 Los hombres de Nínive se levantarán en el juicio con esta generación y la condenarán; porque se arrepintieron con la predicación de Jonás, y ahora hay alguien más grande que Jonás aquí.
42 La Reina del Sur se levantará en el juicio con esta generación y la condenará; porque vino desde los confines de la tierra para escuchar la sabiduría de Salomón, y ahora hay alguien más grande que Salomón aquí.
7 Si hubieran sabido lo que significan estas palabras: Misericordia quiero, no sacrificio», no habrían condenado al inocente.
8 Porque el Hijo del Hombre es Señor del sábado.
9 Saliendo de allí, entró en la sinagoga de ellos, 10 y allí estaba un hombre con una mano paralizada. Buscando una razón para acusar a Jesús, le preguntaron: ¿Es lícito sanar en sábado? 11 Les dijo: Si alguno de ustedes tiene una oveja y esta cae en un hoyo en sábado, ¿no la agarrará y la sacará? 12 ¡Cuánto más vale una persona que una oveja! Por lo tanto, es lícito hacer el bien en sábado.
13 Entonces le dijo al hombre: Extiende la mano.
Así que la extendió y quedó completamente restaurada, tan sana como la otra.
14 Pero los fariseos salieron y tramaron cómo matar a Jesús.
15 Al darse cuenta de esto, Jesús se retiró de aquel lugar. Una gran multitud lo siguió, y sanó a todos los enfermos.
16 Les advirtió que no hablaran de él a nadie.
17 Esto fue para que se cumpliera lo dicho por el profeta Isaías:
18 Aquí está mi siervo, a quien he escogido, a quien amo, en quien me complazco; pondré mi Espíritu sobre él, y proclamará justicia a las naciones.
19 No contenderá ni gritará; nadie oirá su voz en las calles.
20 No quebrará la caña cascada, ni apagará la mecha humeante, hasta que haya traído la victoria a la justicia.
21 En su nombre pondrán las naciones su esperanza.
22 Entonces le trajeron a un endemoniado, ciego y mudo, y Jesús lo sanó, dejándolo hablar y ver. 23 Toda la gente se asombró y decía: «¿Será este el Hijo de David?
24 Pero al oír esto, los fariseos dijeron: «Este solo expulsa demonios por medio de Beelzebul, el príncipe de los demonios.
25 Jesús, conociendo sus pensamientos, les dijo: Todo reino dividido contra sí mismo será destruido, y toda ciudad o familia dividida contra sí misma no permanecerá. 26 Si Satanás expulsa a Satanás, está dividido contra sí mismo. ¿Cómo, entonces, podrá permanecer su reino? 27 Y si yo expulso a los demonios por medio de Beelzebul, ¿por medio de quién los expulsan los de ustedes? Así pues, ellos serán sus jueces.
28 Pero si es por el Espíritu de Dios que expulso demonios, entonces el reino de Dios ha llegado a ustedes.
29 O, además, ¿cómo puede alguien entrar en la casa de un hombre fuerte y saquear sus bienes si primero no lo ata? Entonces podrá saquear su casa.
38 Entonces algunos de los fariseos y maestros de la ley le dijeron: Maestro, queremos ver una señal tuya.
39 Él respondió: ¡Una generación malvada y adúltera pide una señal! Pero no se le dará, excepto la señal del profeta Jonás.
40 Porque así como Jonás estuvo tres días y tres noches en el vientre de un gran pez, así también el Hijo del Hombre estará tres días y tres noches en el corazón de la tierra.
