Don’t Be Discouraged!

  1. The Lord doesn’t want you to be DISCOURAGED.

Joshua 8:1a - “Then the Lord said to Joshua, ‘Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Take the whole army with you, and go up and attack Ai.’”

Joshua 1:9 - “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Deuteronomy 31:6 - “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you or forsake you.”

2 Chronicles 20:15 - “This is what the Lord says to you; do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s.

  2. Being DISCOURAGED is normal, but it’s not of the Lord.

At times we are fearful, we can become discouraged. But these attitudes are not of the Lord. He has no fear of anything. He has absolute power over us all. He is never discouraged. Instead he is filled with courage and always imparts courage to those who follow him.

When we become discouraged, we can rely on God because of His power, His authority, and His character. He is always with us.

Isaiah 41:10 - “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

Psalm 34:4 - “I sought the Lord and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.”

  3. God wants to help you turn DEFEAT into VICTORY. He wants you to have victory in the very place that you have suffered defeat.

Joshua 8:1b - “For I have delivered into your hands the King of Ai, his people, his city and his land.” God sent the Israelites back to Ai, but this time He was with them.

1 Samuel 17:47 - The Philistines had defeated the Israelites time and again. Then the Lord raised up David to defeat Goliath and the Philistines. “All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord’s, and he will give all of you into our hands.”

Judges 16:23-31 - Samson destroyed the Philistines after being deceived, blinded and enslaved by them.

Don’t be surprised when the Lord brings you back to the same place you suffered defeat to test you again.

He wants you to turn defeat into victory just as Christ did at the cross.'
