May 26th, 2019
Verse of the Week
“After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.”
~ I Thessalonians 4:17
1. Jesus will RESURRECT all those who have died in Christ to be with him forever.
I Thessalonians 4:13 – “Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope.”
I Thessalonians 4:14 – “For we believe that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.”
1 Corinthians 15:54-55 – “Death has been swallowed up in victory. ‘Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?’”
John 14:3 – “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.”
2. Jesus will raise first those who have FALLEN ASLEEP in Christ.
I Thessalonians 4:15 – “According to the Lord’s word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep.”
I Thessalonians 4:16 – “For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.”
3. Then Jesus will also RAISE us to be with him in the air.
I Thessalonians 4:17 – “After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so, we will be with the Lord forever.”
I Corinthians 15:51-52 – “Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed – in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.”
Hebrews 9:28 – “So Christ having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him.”
4. The rapture will be SUDDEN and could happen at any time!
Luke 12:40 – “You also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.”
Luke 17:34-37 – “I tell you, on that night two people will be in one bed, one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding grain together; one will be taken and the other left.”
