I Thessalonians 5:12-15

Verse of the Week
“…Always strive to do what is good for each other and everyone else.”
~ I Thessalonians 5:15
1. Paul instructs us to show APPRECIATION for those who serve Christ.
I Thessalonians 5:12 – “Now we ask you, brothers and sisters, to acknowledge those who work hard among you, who care for you in the Lord and who admonish you.”
I Thessalonians 5:13 – “Hold them in the highest regard in love because of their work...”
1 Corinthians 16:15 – “…I urge, you, brothers and sisters, to submit to such people and to everyone who joins in the work and labors at it… For they refreshed my spirit and yours also. Such men deserve recognition.”
Philippians 1:3-5 – “I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you. I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now.”
2. Paul provides a list of instructions on how to TAKE CARE of each other.
I Thessalonians 5:14 – “And we urge you, brothers and sisters, warn those who are idle and disruptive, encourage the disheartened, help the weak, be patient with everyone.”
II Thessalonians 3:6 – “…We command you to keep away from every believer who is idle and disruptive and does not live according to the teaching you received from us.”
Hebrews 3:13 – “Encourage one another daily, as long as it is called, ‘Today,’ so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.”
Isaiah 35:3 – “Encourage the exhausted and strengthen the feeble.”
Romans 15:1 – Now we who are strong ought to bear the weaknesses of those without strength not just to please ourselves.”
Ephesians 4:2 – “Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.”
3. Paul urges believers to FORGIVE each other and DO GOOD to everyone.
I Thessalonians 5:15 – “Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always strive to do what is good for each other and for everyone else.”
I Peter 3:9 – “Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.”
Romans 12:7 – “Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone.”
Ephesians 4:32 – “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.”
Hebrews 10:24 – “And let us watch out for one another to provoke love and good works.”
