Verse of the Week
14 “So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him.”
~ 2 Peter 3:14
1. Peter reminds us that the Day of the Lord is coming soon and we should make every effort to live godly lives.
2 Peter 3:11-12 – “Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming…”
2 Corinthians 7:1 – “Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God.”
2. The Day of the Lord will be cataclysmic but we look forward to a new heaven and a new earth.
2 Peter 3:12-13 – “That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat. But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells.”
Revelation 21:1-5 – “Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, ‘Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.’ He who was seated on the throne said, ‘I am making everything new!’ Then he said, ‘Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.’”
3. Make every effort to be sanctified and to be kept blameless as the day of the Lord approaches.
2 Peter 3:14 – “So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him.”
2 Peter 3:15 – “Bear in mind that our Lord’s patience means salvation, just as our dear brother Paul also wrote you with the wisdom that God gave him.”
2 Peter 3:16 – “He writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction.”
I Thessalonians 5:23-24 – “May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it.”
4. Peter’s final admonition is to be on our guard against lawless deceivers and continue to grow in Christ!
2 Peter 3:17 – “Therefore, dear friends, since you have been forewarned, be on your guard so that you may not be carried away by the error of the lawless and fall from your secure position.”
2 Peter 3:18 – “But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.”

14 “ Por eso, queridos hermanos, mientras esperan estos acontecimientos, esfuércense para que Dios los halle sin mancha y sin defecto, en paz con él.”
~ 2 Pedro 3:14
1.Pedro nos recuerda que el día del Señor viene pronto y tenemos que tratar de vivir vidas santas.
2 Pedro 3:11-12 – “Ya que todo será destruido de esa manera, ¿no deberían vivir ustedes con devoción, siguiendo una conducta santa y esperando ansiosamente la venida del día de Dios...”
2 Corintios 7:1 – “Como tenemos estas promesas, queridos hermanos, purifiquémonos de todo lo que contamina el cuerpo y el espíritu, para completar en el temor de Dios la obra de nuestra santificación.”
2.El día del Señor será cataclismico pero anhelamos un nuevo cielo y una nueva tierra.
2 Pedro 3:12-13 – “Ese día los cielos serán destruidos por el fuego y los elementos se derretirán con el calor de las llamas. Pero según su promesa, nosotros esperamos un cielo nuevo y una tierra nueva, en los que habita la justicia.”
Apocalipsis 21:1-5 – “Después vi un cielo nuevo y una tierra nueva, porque el primer cielo y la primera tierra habían dejado de existir, lo mismo que el mar. Vi además la ciudad santa, la nueva Jerusalén, que bajaba del cielo, procedente de Dios, preparada como una novia hermosamente vestida para su prometido. Oí una potente voz que provenía del trono y decía: ¡Aquí, entre los seres humanos, está el santuario de Dios! Él habitará en medio de ellos y ellos serán su pueblo; Dios mismo estará con ellos y será su Dios. Él enjugará toda lágrima de los ojos. Ya no habrá muerte ni llanto, tampoco lamento ni dolor, porque las primeras cosas han dejado de existir. El que estaba sentado en el trono dijo: ¡Yo hago nuevas todas las cosas! Y añadió: Escribe, porque estas palabras son verdaderas y dignas de confianza.’”
3.Debes de tratar a ser santificado y mantenerte sin culpa mientras el día del Señor se acerca.
2 Pedro 3:14 – “Por eso, queridos hermanos, mientras esperan estos acontecimientos, esfuércense para que Dios los halle sin mancha y sin defecto, en paz con él.”
2 Pedro 3:15 – “Tengan presente que la paciencia de nuestro Señor significa salvación, tal como les escribió también nuestro querido hermano Pablo, con la sabiduría que Dios le dio.”
2 Pedro 3:16 – “En todas sus cartas se refiere a estos mismos temas. Hay en ellas algunos puntos difíciles de entender que los ignorantes e inconstantes tergiversan, como lo hacen también con las demás Escrituras para su propia perdición.”
I Tesalonicenses 5:23-24 – “Que Dios mismo, el Dios de paz, los santifique por completo, y conserve todo su ser — espíritu, alma y cuerpo —, irreprochable para la venida de nuestro Señor Jesucristo. El que los llama es fiel y así lo hará.”
4.El aviso final de Pedro es estar alerta en contra de engañadores sin leyes y continuar creciendo en Cristo!
2 Pedro 3:17 – “Así que ustedes, queridos hermanos, puesto que ya saben esto de antemano manténganse alertas, no sea que, arrastrados por el error de esos libertinos, pierdan la estabilidad y caigan.”
2 Pedro 3:18 – “Más bien, crezcan en la gracia y en el conocimiento de nuestro Señor y Salvador Jesucristo. ¡A él sea la gloria ahora y para siempre! Amén.”
