False Teachers and Their Destruction

Verse of the Week
1 “But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them — bringing swift destruction on themselves.”
~ 2 Peter 2:1
1. The Apostle Peter contrasts the eyewitness testimonies and veracity of the prophets with the cleverly invented stories of false teachers.
2 Peter 2:1 – “But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them — bringing swift destruction on themselves.”
Jude 4 – “For certain individuals whose condemnation was written about long ago have secretly slipped in among you. They are ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord.”
2. Those who follow false teaching bring dishonor on themselves and discredit the truth.
2 Peter 2:2 – “Many will follow their depraved conduct and will bring the way of truth into disrepute.”
I Timothy 1:3-4 – “As I urged you when I went into Macedonia, stay there in Ephesus so that you may command certain people not to teach false doctrines any longer or to devote themselves to myths and endless genealogies. Such things promote controversial speculations rather than advancing God’s work — which is by faith.”
Matthew 7:21-23 – “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!”
3. False teachers exploit the ignorant and the vulnerable and are morally bankrupt.
2 Peter 2:3 – “In their greed these teachers will exploit you with fabricated stories. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping.”
2 John 1:7 – “I say this because many deceivers, who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh, have gone out into the world. Any such person is the deceiver and the antichrist.”
2 Timothy 4:3-4 – “For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.”
4. But these false teachers will receive their just punishment along with all who do evil including fallen angels.
2 Peter 2:4 – “For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but sent them to hell, putting them in chains of darkness to be held for judgment.”
Jude 6 – “And the angels who did not keep their positions of authority but abandoned their proper dwelling — these he has kept in darkness, bound with everlasting chains for judgment on the great day.”
5. God’s judgment is apparent from events in the Old Testament.
2 Peter 2:5 – “If he did not spare the ancient world when he brought the flood on its ungodly people, but protected Noah, a preacher of righteousness, and seven others.”
Jude 5 – “Though you already know all this, I want to remind you that the Lord at one time delivered his people out of Egypt, but later destroyed those who did not believe.”
2 Peter 2:6 – “If he condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah by burning them to ashes, and made them an example of what is going to happen to the ungodly.”
6. God will spare those who are righteous by the blood of Christ while condemning those who reject Him.
2 Peter 2:7-8 – “And if he rescued Lot, a righteous man, who was distressed by the depraved conduct of the lawless (for that righteous man, living among them day after day, was tormented in his righteous soul by the lawless deeds he saw and heard).”
2 Peter 2:9 – “If this is so, then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials and to hold the unrighteous for punishment on the day of judgment.”
Matthew 25:46 – “Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”
John 3:36 – “Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them.”

1 “En el pueblo hubo falsos profetas. También entre ustedes habrá falsos maestros que encubiertamente introducirán herejías destructivas, al extremo de negar al mismo Soberano Señor que los rescató. Esto les traerá una pronta destrucción.”

1. El Apostol Pedro contrasta el testimonio de los testigos y la veracidad de los profetas con las enseñanzas inventadas de maestros falsos.
2 Pedro 2:1 – “En el pueblo hubo falsos profetas. También entre ustedes habrá falsos maestros que encubiertamente introducirán herejías destructivas, al extremo de negar al mismo Soberano Señor que los rescató. Esto les traerá una pronta destrucción.”
Judas 4 – “El problema es que se han infiltrado entre ustedes ciertos individuos que desde hace mucho tiempo han estado señalados para condenación. Son impíos que cambian en libertinaje la gracia de nuestro Dios y niegan a Jesucristo, nuestro único Soberano y Señor.”
2. Los que sigan enseñanzas falsas traen deshonra a si mismos y desacreditan la verdad.
2 Pedro 2:2 – “Muchos los seguirán en sus prácticas vergonzosas y por causa de ellos se difamará el camino de la verdad.”
I Timoteo 1:3-4 – “Al partir para Macedonia, te encargué que permanecieras en Éfeso y ordenaras a algunos supuestos maestros que dejen de enseñar doctrinas falsas y de prestar atención a mitos y genealogías interminables. Esas cosas provocan controversias en vez de llevar adelante la obra de Dios que es por la fe.”
Mateo 7:21-23 – “No todo el que me dice: “Señor, Señor”, entrará en el reino de los cielos, sino solo el que hace la voluntad de mi Padre que está en el cielo. Muchos me dirán en aquel día: “Señor, Señor, ¿no profetizamos en tu nombre y en tu nombre expulsamos demonios e hicimos muchos milagros?” Entonces les diré claramente: “Jamás los conocí. ¡Aléjense de mí, hacedores de maldad!”
3. Los falsos maestros explotan al ignorante y vulnerable y estan en bancarrota moral.
2 Pedro 2:3 – “Llevados por la avaricia, estos falsos maestros se aprovecharán de ustedes con palabras engañosas. Desde hace mucho tiempo su condenación está preparada y su destrucción los acecha.”
2 Juan 1:7 – “Es que han salido por el mundo muchos engañadores que no confiesan que Jesucristo ha venido en cuerpo. El que así actúa es el engañador y el anticristo.”
2 Timoteo 4:3-4 – “Porque llegará el tiempo en que no van a tolerar la sana doctrina, sino que, llevados de sus propios deseos, se rodearán de maestros que les digan las fantasías que quieren oír. Dejarán de escuchar la verdad y se volverán a los mitos.”
4. Pero estos falsos maestros recibiran su castigocon todos aquellos que hagan mal incluyendo los angeles caidos.
2 Pedro 2:4 – “Dios no perdonó a los ángeles cuando pecaron, sino que los arrojó al abismo, poniéndolos en cadenas de oscuridad y reservándolos para el juicio.”
Judas 6 – “Y a los ángeles que no mantuvieron su posición de autoridad, sino que abandonaron su propia morada, los tiene perpetuamente encarcelados en oscuridad para el juicio del gran día.”
5. El juicio de Dios es aparente en eventos en el Antiguo Testamento.
2 Pedro 2:5 – “Tampoco perdonó al mundo antiguo cuando mandó un diluvio sobre los impíos, aunque protegió a ocho personas, incluyendo a Noé, predicador de la justicia.”
Judas 5 – “Aunque ustedes ya saben muy bien todo esto, quiero recordarles que el Señor, después de liberar de la tierra de Egipto a su pueblo, destruyó a los que no creían.”
2 Pedro 2:6 – “Además, condenó a las ciudades de Sodoma y Gomorra, y las redujo a cenizas, poniéndolas como escarmiento para los impíos.”
6. Dios perdonara al correcto por la sangre de Cristo mientras condena a los que le rechazan.
2 Pedro 2:7-8 – “Por otra parte, libró al justo Lot, que se encontraba abrumado por la vida desenfrenada de esos perversos; pues este justo, que convivía con ellos y amaba el bien, día tras día sentía que se le despedazaba el alma por las obras malvadas que veía y oía.”
2 Pedro 2:9 – “Todo esto demuestra que el Señor sabe librar de la tentación a los que viven con devoción a Dios, y sabe también guardar a los injustos para castigarlos en el día del juicio.”
Mateo 25:46 – “Aquellos irán al castigo eterno y los justos a la vida eterna.”
Juan 3:36 – “El que cree en el Hijo tiene vida eterna; pero el que desobedece al Hijo no sabrá lo que es esa vida, sino que permanecerá bajo el castigo de Dios.”
